Each year schools from around the United States celebrate this one day where high school students get all dressed up. That is Homecoming Dance day and YC celebrated this day on Oct. 10. The dance this year started right after the home football game and ended at 11:30 pm.
The theme for this year’s homecoming dance was “On the Bayou” which in other terms is “Princess and the Frog” theme. The dance was held in the YCHS old gym.
After talking to the leadership coordinator and teacher Matt Opitz about the dance, he said the advanced leadership students are the ones working on it with Senior Payton Gregor, who is ASB Vice President.
In an interview, Gregor said, “We are making posters and media and we have decorations…we’re making decorations for the dance and making like, playlists and stuff, and making sure all the lighting and sound systems are accounted for.”
Gregor was in charge of the homecoming playlists, ordering the decorations and helping put them together.
And what many students were excited for was this year’s homecoming court. For the princes it was Deegan Tuning, Johnathan Hernandez-Rubio, Wesley Cicoria, Gus Brunner and Tucker Vandyke. And the homecoming princesses were voted by the student body to be Josie Barker, Saige Hinckley, Ella Amerson, Addison Tuning and Peyton Gregor. The king and queen were crowned the evening of the game and dance.
