Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 Review

Bigger, personal, and great! But is it as good as the first? ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ is fun for everyone! It has elevated the comedy of the first film and expands the marvel universe! I have little to no problems with this film. Its extremely fun! But, towards the third act the film begins to drag on. Our characters are placed with “Let’s try this!” failure “now lets try this!” and repeat for about three times. Seeing our characters fail can be a good change but, if it’s again and again it doesn’t feel quite right. Marvel movies have always had trouble with the third act so by now, we’re used to this. That and some characters who don’t really need to show up past the first act are my only problem. The soundtrack in this one is just as good as the first! It goes with the emotion of each scene and the words of each song describe each character’s emotions of anger, loss, and love.

SPOILERS SECTION

Ego , Peter Quill/ star-Lord’s dad, to many people’s surprise is the villain of the film. For fans of the fantastic four comic books this was no surprise considering he’s a villain they face him several times. In this film Ego is one of marvel’s better villains. The film spends a good deal of time developing his character and motives. Yondu is also a great character in this film. He brings heart, laughs, and eventually tears. This film deals I guess kind of with adoption? I don’t know? But, it deals with daddy issues. Yondu being peter’s father figure and helping him along the way.

END OF SPOILERS

This film I believe in better in a lot of ways than the first. But, this is simply because of how surprisingly good the first film was! If this was the first people would have fallen in love with it just as hard. I do love this film but it’s just not a surprise like the first. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ gets a B.
