John Wick is a modern day pinnacle of the action genre. These films have amazing action blended with great world building and just a fun bloody time. John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum continues this world building and action taking place directly after Chapter 2. We follow John Wick as he runs from thousands of assassins hunting him down.

Right from the get-go we get an amazing fight sequence in a library between our main character and a really tall guy. Its great. The set pieces in these action sequences pretty much always make the already high octane fights even better. My particular favorite is in a warehouse full of historical weapons displays such as knives and guns. These scenes are full of extreme, fun, and wildly creative violence. The R-rating of this film and the other John Wick films allow for some of the best action scenes out there.

The action set pieces always make the scene ten times better. There’s a scene where he fights a dude, with a horse! A horse! He then proceed to fight two guys on motorcycles on said horse! That is so awesome! These movies just blow me away in action almost every time!

My one complaint is later on in the film John Wick goes to the middle east looking for assistance. He gets the help of Halle Berry, and she is just not that good. Berry gives a flat performance that doesn’t compare to the badass action hero in Keanu Reeves John Wick. She just pulls me out of the film. She’s great as a physical presence as she has two dogs who fight by her side but outside of that her performance is a hard pass.

The story follows John Wick after he has been excommunicated from the assassins world and every assassin is after him. It’s pretty simple at first but it’s got a pretty good amount of twists to keep you entertained. The story is pretty solid and for a modern day action flick it holds up well.

John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum is a really fun action film. It’s got literally everything you would want in a John Wick movie. Its got great acting from Keanu Reeves, some of the best action out there, and a fun story. This film has everything you want. John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum gets an A. This film is rated R for violence and language.
