Now that the end of an era has come to pass, the football field is left empty as other sports begin to be populated with football players shedding their pads for winter sports.
Most of the football players didn’t expect the season to end the way it did and Tyler Pond said “it was a really tough loss, I expected more of a fight.” Most others I talked to agreed with his statement and added on.
The starting center Jason Kelly said, “it was a little expected since their overall a good team” later agreeing with some lack of aggression.
When asked on how they thought the rest of the team felt about the loss Kelly stated, “mostly negative emotions, but mostly disappointed.”
Along with that, most of the players going into the game said they were a little nervous but mostly “pumped.”
Pond stated, “Going in I felt pumped and ready to go, thinking we could beat that team.” Pond’s energy did rub off on other players like some of the linemen.
Starting lineman Deegan Tuning also said, “going in I was a bit nervous, but I don’t think I was the only one” and multiple other players said something similar.
But now that the season is over we have the new season of 2025 and 2026 to look forward to, with a larger group of upcoming seniors the future looks bright.
With a new season comes new team captains, and most football players when asked said that the captains would be part of the large group of upcoming seniors.
Pond stated, “I’m not sure who will be the captains, really it’s a matter of who steps up” and on top of that he said “it’s a really good group of guys, most of us have been together since third and fourth grade.”
Tuning said, “over all it’s a good group of up and comers,” and went on to say the captains will be guys who are already showing leadership qualities, including some of the younger guys if they step up. On top of that Kelly said, “I think some guys like Tyler or Isaac, but there are some ego issues that need to be overcome.”
All of the football players agreed that the next football season starts after the day it ends.
