Uggs, are they worth it? Lately Uggs have been going viral on social media. Let’s go back to when Uggs originally were created.
Uggs were first created in Australia by Brian Smith in 1978. It wasn’t until the late ‘90s and 2000s that the shoes made it into the mainstream. They have continued to trend all the way up to now, possibly even more popular than they were in the 2000s.
Uggs are typically made of sheepskin and fleece, but it depends on the Ugg design. For the pricing Ugg Boots adorned with fancy fleece cuffs are in the $200-$230 range while other riding and motorcycle-inspired looks can be found for between $200-$300. Although for Ugg Slippers the pricing typically ranges from $100-160$.
Uggs are made to keep your feet warm from the cold. Although they are meant to keep your feet warm in the cold, they are not waterproof. Uggs do have their own protection spray. It’s protection against rain, snow, dirt, and stains. For this protectant it is $15, for the Ugg care kit it is $35. The Ugg care kit includes the protector, cleaner and conditioner, shoe renewal, and brushes for the Uggs.
For me, Uggs are extremely comfortable and easy to wear. I have the Womens Disquette Slippers in Chestnut, and Ultra Mini Braid Genuine Shearling Bootie. Both Uggs are comfy and keep my feet warm. I have not waterproofed them, and they have got wet but so far there has been nothing wrong with them and no stains.
They are easy to style, and I wear them often. I do think the pricing is a bit high and a bit unreasonable, but you have to remember sheepskin is pricey. I have seen people who have had their Uggs for multiple years and are in fine condition. I do think it’s very important to waterproof them since they are not waterproof and Uggs recommends waterproofing them. To me Uggs are amazing, and I tend to look for clothing to wear especially with my Uggs. In my opinion Uggs are worth it.
