October is full of Halloween themed activities. Everyone has a different way to celebrate Halloween.
Soccer Player Sara Kuhlmann is an exchange student from Germany. She loves being in America and enjoys being at YC. According to Kuhlmann, in Germany, most people decorate the day before Halloween and not at the start of the month.
Kuhlmann says that here in America there’s more Halloween snacks than in Germany. But she loves candy in general.
Recently she went to a Halloween party and dressed up as a crazy scientist. When asked what her favorite part about Halloween was, she answered that dressing up was her ultimate favorite part. This time for Halloween day, she will be dressing as a vampire.
She doesn’t know if she will be hanging out with anyone on Halloween yet, but her friends have invited her to hangout. For Kuhlmann, Halloween is comforting to her. “Like all the darkness and scary movies and stuff, it just kind of makes you feel so cozy,” said Kuhlmann.
For Freshman Analeigh Brown Halloween is just a bit different from Kuhlmann’s. Brown was homeschooled the year she didn’t go to YC. When asked if she enjoyed being homeschooled, she answered with, “No I didn’t like it at all, it was horrible,” but she enjoys being back at YC.
Brown’s favorite Halloween memory is carving pumpkins with her grandparents every year. She doesn’t have any other specific Halloween.
traditions other than that. Her favorite candy is Snickers and for her, Halloween is “lots of fun and it gives you a chance to go out and do whatever at nighttime,” said Brown.
On Halloween she usually goes out with friends and walks around. This year she plans on doing just that and maybe going to one of her friends’ houses afterwards. She plans on dressing up as Ghostface.
