As the high school years continue, the class of 2024 seniors, make up a fourth of the school. Even though YC may be small, seniors are in their final year, and trying to make it as memorable as they can.
Student Ryder Ramirez is a senior attending Yamhill Carlton High School. He is known as a relaxed student athlete as well as a frequent participant in after school activities.
Dressing up for several of the spirit days Ramirez was asked what made him so expressive for each day? Referring to the Barbie vs. Oppenheimer dress-up day, Ramirez said, “Barbie, because I had a pink dress and I look pretty. So I wanted to dress up.”
Ramirez also mentioned how teacher, Jordan Slavish, gave him clothes to dress up in as well for the 2000’s dress up day. “Slavish kind of forced me to,” said Ramirez. They have always had a fun bond.
Attending YC since kindergarten, Ramirez mentions his family that he once lived near in Florida. “We wanted to move to the opposite side of the country, to get away from them,” Ramirez said. He talks about how their lifestyle was pretty hectic and their family wanted a change by moving to Yamhill.
When asked, Ramirez finally talks about his overall experience with YC, he was introduced to wrestling, which he now loves. Wrestling has been a staple in Ramirez’s high school experience that he takes pride in, but being the only school that he really knows, he considers it alright.
Ramirez plans on becoming a Navy EOD tech, where they defuse bombs. He decided to join the Navy last year, where he went to MEPS in June of this year, and now is awaiting boot camp.
Joining the Navy straight out of high school, Ramirez will be making a great contribution to society.
